The Meaning of VASAK

The name VASAK comes from "바삭," the Korean word for crispiness, reflecting the texture and joy of enjoying this modern interpretation of traditional craftsmanship.

VASAK Lineup

As of May 2025, VASAK offers five Kimbugak flavors: Lotus Root & Sesame, Soybean Paste & Crown Daisy, Perilla Seeds & Perilla Leaves, Asian Spice Blends & Peanut, and Cherry Tomato & Basil. New creations like Coffee & Hazelnut are coming soon — expanding VASAK with bold, crisp takes on tradition.

This flavor pairs the earthy taste of lotus root with the nutty aroma of sesame, offering a light and crispy twist on traditional Korean ingredients.

VASAK Heritage: Tradition Reinvented

VASAK’s story began with Lena, a food director who inherited a Kimbugak recipe passed down through three generations. Her mother-in-law, Haeran, had learned the traditional method from her own mother, Inhoon, who mastered the art of crafting Kimbugak.

To create a healthier snack for her son, Haeran enhanced the recipe with ingredients like shiitake mushrooms, lotus root, burdock root, and shrimp powder, adding rich flavors and nutritional value.

Building on this legacy, Lena modernized the recipe. She introduced a convenient stick-shaped design and boldly used key ingredients as toppings, giving the snack a fresh, contemporary appeal while staying true to its roots.

Through the dedication of Inhoon, Haeran, and Lena, VASAK brings a bold, modern twist to a classic Korean tradition.
